A new report from Bloomberg has provided additional details about the upcoming iPhone 15 lineup, with Apple just a few weeks away from revealing its next generation of iPhones, the iPhone 15 series.

The most recent version of Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman's weekly Power On newsletter outlines the anticipated changes Apple will implement with the upcoming iPhone 15 series.

Gurman reports that the Dynamic Island found on the Pro models from the previous year will take the place of the notch design that was first introduced with the iPhone X in 2017 on the iPhone 15 series.

Furthermore, a process known as low-injection pressure over-molding, or "LIPO" as Apple refers to it internally, will be used to create the displays for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The Apple Watch Series 7 was the first wearable to use LIPO technology to thin its bezels. Through this process, the bezels surrounding the display have shrunk from 2.2 mm to 1.5 mm, making the bezels thinner and the display larger.

Moving further, the iPhone 15 Pro variants will replace the stainless steel edges with Titanium frames, making it lighter, more rigid, and more durable than the predecessors, added Gurman. However, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will retain their stainless-steel frame.

In addition, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will come with a 4nm A16 Bionic chip, a frosted glass back, and the edges of the frame are expected to be less sharp.

The iPhone 15 Pro variants will feature a new 3-nanometer chip, which offers a snappier performance and is expected to improve efficiency over last year’s Pro models. Other rumored changes for the iPhone 15 Pro include improved camera hardware and repairability.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 series will ditch the company’s proprietary Lightning port in favor of a USB Type-C port to comply with the EU rules that go into effect in December 2024. The Pro variants are expected to come with major rear camera upgrades, including updated lenses and a better optical zoom range.
